The Central Section of the Great Barrier Reef has some of the most spectacular and pristine Reefs. Located far enough from the mainland to ensure a unique snorkeling and diving experience with excellent visibility, coral health and a large variety of marine life.
Departure: Townsville and Magnetic Island
Outer Reef sites: the site is chosen on a daily basis by the vessel’s Captain for the best variety and visibility according to weather conditions. There are more than a dozen different reef sites to choose from, such as Lodestone and Kelso Reef. Depths at the Reef range from 1 metre to 20 metres making it ideal for snorkelers, beginner and experienced divers.
Marine life: Big schools of trevally, barracudas and tropical colored fish are common, including Parrot fish, Maori wrasse, Clown fish and Angel fish; Turtles, Stingrays, White tip and Black tip Reef sharks are often sighted.
Activities: snorkelling and scuba diving (Introductory and certified diving)*
*Introductory Dive (no experience required): try scuba dive on the Reef! After a few basic skills, you‘ll be off to explore the wonders of Great Barrier Reef under the close supervision of the dive instructor.
*Certified divers can enjoy 2 dives on the day either with dive guides or just with dive buddy.
Minimum age required: 6 years old
Fitness level: must be able to swim
