Billy Tea Safaris is a small locally owned tour operator, which operates small personalised tours with custom built 4WD vehicles, and your naturalist guides have extensive knowledge of flora, fauna, history of the area and aboriginal culture, which will ensure your day will be a memory of a lifetime.

Chillagoe is 215km west of Cairns. Chillagoe landscape is unique and spectacular, hosting limestone caves with cavers and passages, some of which have been decorated by calcite stalactites, stalagmites and flowstones, deposited by surface waters penetrating through the rock. Those caves are home of several bat species, spotted pythons and other insects; fossilized bones of many animals, including those of the extinct giant kangaroo, have been also found in the caves.

Tour Highlights:

  • McAllister Ranges
  • Travelling through historical towns and spotting wildlife
  • History of the copper smelters
  • National parks Cave Tour
  • Granite gorge to hand feed wallabies
